Filming in northern Finland during winter is not just a job — it’s a journey into
another world. We had the privilege of accompanying renowned journalist
Giulio Guazzini from RAI on an extraordinary expedition into the icy heart of
Finnish craftsmanship, exploring the legendary shipyards where the world’s
most prestigious yachts are born: those of Nautor’s Swan.
Reaching these remote locations was already an adventure in itself — flying
in over frozen landscapes, landing on snow-covered runways, and even
gliding across the white silence behind a team of sled dogs. Every moment
was an immersion in the raw, majestic beauty of the North.
Inside the shipyards, shielded from the harsh arctic climate, we discovered a
world of absolute precision, dedication, and excellence. Here, in the stillness
of the frozen landscape, artisans shaped world-class sailing yachts with a
level of care and attention that felt almost tailor-made — an act of
craftsmanship refined by decades of tradition and hardened by the icy winds
of the Baltic.Filming this experience meant capturing not only the boats and the people
who build them, but the spirit of a place where extreme conditions forge
extraordinary results. The contrast between the frozen silence outside and
the warmth of purposeful work inside created an emotional, almost
cinematic backdrop that was simply unforgettable.
This journey reminded us once again that true excellence is not born of
comfort, but of vision, perseverance, and soul — even at -20°C.
